PATHS TO COMMUNITY
There are many paths to community. Congregants can choose from a wide range of groups and activities, including many committees.
Adult Education CommitteeThe mission of adult education at the JCK is to promote lifelong Jewish learning and discussion reflecting the interests of our members and the underlying values of our Reform Judaism. The programs are designed to bring JCK members together to explore topics of interest, share perspectives, and learn from one another, enabling us to become more knowledgeable about our Jewish identity and issues relevant to our congregation and the broader community. Building Committee The committee is responsible for the business relationship between the Congregation and its physical home. Current activities of the committee include business dealings with the Congregation’s landlord and searching for a site for a synagogue building of our own.
Community OutreachThis committee is one of the public faces of the JCK. The committee organizes projects, involving both adults and children, through which congregants can help those less fortunate. The committee has developed annual programs with specific charities.
Education CommitteeThe Education Committee is the oversight organization for the JCK School. It works in conjunction with the School Administrator and Rabbi to develop curriculum, raise money for the school and serve as liaison with the Board of Trustees.
Membership CommitteeMembers of this committee seek to attract and retain members of the Congregation. The committee members make themselves available to perspective members and make sure that all their concerns and questions about membership are active. Throughout the year, they run functions designed to show the warmth and inclusiveness of the JCK.
Finance CommitteeThis committee, chaired by the JCK Treasurer, is responsible for developing the annual operating budget.
Fundraising CommitteeThe Fundraising Committee develops programming designed to supplement membership dues.
House and Grounds This committee is responsible for maintenance of the JCK’s office and school space.
Long Range PlanningThis committee meets to discuss the future of the JCK. It looks at the direction of the Congregation and offers the Board of Trustees suggestions about areas of improvement.
PublicityThe members of this committee represent another public face of the JCK. The committee issues press releases and arranges for the press to visit and interview various members of the Congregation at various times. It serves to raise the profile of the JCK within the community.
Ritual CommitteeThe Ritual Committee, working closely with the Rabbi, plans the regular and holiday services for the Congregation.
Social CommitteeThe Social Committee is responsible for planning social gatherings for the Congregants. It seeks to bring people together in relaxed settings and allow them to socialize with the friends, neighbors and fellow members.
